Mufasa was brought into the APL as a stray after a Good Samaritan found him by her porch.

She noticed he had a large open wound across the back of his rear leg. He also had a serious eye infection. Mufasa was treated by the APL’s veterinary team. He had surgery to close the wound on his leg, and his infected eye had to be removed. He was also treated for internal parasites and ear mites.

He spent a month recovering in a foster home with an APL veterinarian, who loving called him Frankenstein because of his numerous injuries. Despite ongoing follow-up care, the wound on Mufasa’s leg would not heal and it had to be amputated.

He continued to recover in foster care, where he spent a total of four months. Mufasa was adopted shortly after returning to the shelter, and his forever family absolutely adores him.
